The space party continues at IST under the banner of World Space Week

ISLAMABAD – World Space Week celebrations with all its space and technology themed activities are in full swing at the Institute of Space Technology (IST), Islamabad for the second consecutive day to motivating the younger generation to explore the exciting journey to space technology.

The event, organized by IST in collaboration with the National Center for Space GIS and Applications, is an annual week-long space party featuring more than 100 events related to space science and technology and its applications.

World Space Week aims to celebrate and recognize the contributions of space technology to the betterment of humanity. It is the world’s largest annual space event aimed at building the workforce of tomorrow by inspiring students and educating the public about the multifaceted realms of space.

The second day of World Space Week was planned to showcase literary, artistic and entrepreneurial talents while sharpening participants’ creativity through various competitions including creative writing, astroppreneurship, space declamation, space theater, storytelling and many other interesting activities.

Under the patronage of SUPARCO, the Institute of Space Technology has been celebrating World Space Week since 2005, in line with its vision “to be a national torchbearer in the field of academics, through quality teaching, strong research and outreach, to produce leaders in space science and technology, in line with national aspirations.

During the week of festivities, the IST organizes a wide range of events to motivate and inspire young minds towards the interdisciplinary horizons of space technology, through various competitions, conferences, webinars and trainings.

WSW 2022 features over 100 events in 12 main categories, including Space Recitations, Space Quiz, Space Creative Writing, Space Applications, Space Innovation, Space Technology Demonstration, Space Models and Objects collectibles, space fine arts, space performing arts, space architectures, space for the un sustainable development goals and space living.

With over 2,000 participants from around 40 schools, colleges and universities across Pakistan, WSW 2022 will conclude on October 8.
