Texas A&M has its second Acting Marshal.
The A&M System announced the hiring of Mark Weichold as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
Dr Weichold had been acting provost since January following the departure of Carol Fierke.
Acting Assistant Vice-President Tim Scott takes over, who is the Academic Director of A&M.

Effective September 13, Dr. Mark Weichold will join the Texas A&M University System as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Weichold has served as Interim Provost and Executive Vice President since January 2021.
“We look forward to Dr. Weichold bringing his vast experience to the academic initiatives of the A&M system,” said Chancellor John Sharp. “His contribution will help advance all of our academic institutions. “
Weichold, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Regent, previously held a number of leadership positions including Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Engineering, Executive Director of the Halliburton Global Engineering Program, Dean and CEO of the campus of the Texas A&M University branch. campus in Qatar and associate rector for undergraduate university programs.
In his new role within the A&M System Academic Affairs Office, Weichold will provide leadership and support for academic programs, educational initiatives, academic policy, student affairs, digital learning and analysis of data.
Dr. Tim Scott, Associate President for Academic Affairs and Student Success, has been appointed Interim President and Executive Vice President. He joined the faculty of the Department of Biology in 1990 and was associate dean for undergraduate programs at the College of Sciences from 2000 to 2016. He is a professor of biology and science education policy.
