South-South Writers Union to hold convention in Delta


The South-South Writers Union has announced that it will hold its conference in Ogume, Delta State of Ndokwa West Local Government Zone, from October 28 to 31, 2021.

A statement signed by Union Secretary Ofonime Inyang on Sunday said Union President Alaska Ekele had secured the right to host the first edition of the conference in Delta.

He said the theme of the convention was “The Role of Creative Writing in National Peace and Security in Nigeria” with Prof. Barclays Ayakorona from the Department of Theater Arts, African University, Toru Orua, State of Bayelsa as the main speaker.

The statement read: “The arrival date according to the press release is October 28, 2021 and the departure is October 31, 2021.

“The South-South Writers Union was formed in 2017. Member States are Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers with the late Professor Sam Ukala as one of the patrons.

“Union membership is open to students of higher education institutions, writers, creative minds, businessmen, legal persons, etc. “

He said Delta State Polytechnic Rector Ogwashi Uku, Professor Emmanuel Achuenu, will present Lead Paper while Brigadier General Mike Ndubisi (Rtd) General Chairman, Ndokwa Neku Union, NNU will be the chairman of the occasion.
