  • Jacobs Engineering Group has been selected to provide civil, mechanical and electrical engineering services for one of the UK’s most complex nuclear sites.
  • The five-year contract with Sellafield at the Sellafield site in Cumbria is valued at $310 million, according to a statementand is part of a joint venture with UK facilities management company Mitie.
  • Dallas-based Jacobs has worked for more than 40 years to guide the decommissioning, waste management and environmental remediation of Sellafield, according to its website.

Overview of the dive:

Jacobs maintained he was well positioned to add to his backlog in the construction of sophisticated facilities during its fiscal second quarter earnings call in May.

The construction services company has been providing engineering design and safety briefing services to Sellafield since 2012 as part of the Design Services Alliance (DSA). The DSA is a alliance between Sellafield and major contractors in the nuclear supply chain.

Jacobs also recently announced a $3.9 billion contract with NASA earlier this month. The construction services company will provide the engineering, design, development, technology, operations and maintenance of the facilities for the project.

Jacobs reported growth in revenue, earnings and backlog on its second quarterly call. This is largely due to key projects won by the U.S. government, including contracts with U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command Support at Fort Meade, Maryland, and the Artificial Intelligence Centers of the Department of Defense in Arizona, Florida and Texas, as well as its acquisition of BlackLynx. in November.
