Announced deadline extension for categories judged live at TechFest

The judges begin the first phase of reviewing entries for this year’s TechFest Awards today, but they’ve decided to give more time to the categories that will be judged live at the November 24 event in London.

Companies putting technology into action to reduce carbon emissions or modular construction, as well as new companies offering high-tech solutions to the construction sector, now have until September 2 to finalize their applications.

“With the final round of judging our Innovation Incubator Award and Best Use of Technology: Carbon Emissions Reduction and Best Use of Technology: Offsite and Modular categories taking place during the conference daytime at TechFest, we wanted to give participating companies more time to perfect their entries so they really stand out when they take the stage,” said Claire Smith, NCE Editor-in-Chief.

“Having the opportunity to present ideas in front of our audience is really essential for the finalist of our innovation incubator award, which recognizes start-ups or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that drive change and innovation. innovation through the development of new technologies for use in the construction and civil engineering industry or on the projects that the sector delivers.

Best Use of Technology: Carbon Reduction rewards teams that use technology to reduce the carbon generated from the construction and use of their projects for any part of the built environment. This can take the form of embodied carbon through the use of improved design, alternative materials or new equipment or operational carbon.

Similarly, Best Use of Technology: Offsite and Modular also rewards teams that put technology into practice, but for this award the focus is on teams using offsite and modular building techniques to improve the project design and delivery. This can relate to any sector of the built environment, but should emphasize the benefits of offsite and modular techniques to the project in terms of efficiency, safety or improved outcomes.
