Amazon Web Services (AWS) Reports 39% Third Quarter Sales Increase to $ 16.1 Billion


Amazon Web Services (AWS) reported revenue of $ 16.11 billion (+ 39%) and operating profit of $ 4.88 billion in the third quarter of 2021.

AWS revenue growth is driven by strong customer momentum, with new engagements and customer migrations across key industries.


NXP, one of Europe’s leading designers and manufacturers of specialty semiconductors, has chosen AWS as their cloud provider. NXP migrates the vast majority of its electronics design automation workloads from NXP data centers to AWS.

Automotive industry leaders including Capgemini Engineering, CARIAD and Continental have joined AWS in a special interest group supporting Arm’s scalable open architecture for Embedded Edge to bring cloud-native practices and software-defined architectures for the automotive industry.

Hospitality and e-commerce

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchise company, chose AWS to upgrade its technology infrastructure and develop and deliver new services to customers across its 21 hotel brands, including Ramada, Travelodge and Wyndham.

VTEX, a global provider of e-commerce solutions, is working with AWS to create a new direct-to-consumer solution that gives large enterprises the ability to quickly and easily launch e-commerce sites and experiences to sell direct to consumers.


Boingo Wireless, a leading provider of distributed antenna systems, Wi-Fi and private networks, has announced an expanded collaboration with AWS to enable airports, stadiums and large enterprises to unlock new cases of 5G use with advanced multi-access state-of-the-art computing.

Financial services

Sun Life, a financial services and insurance company, has chosen AWS as its cloud provider.

Black Knight, a provider of software, data and analytics for the mortgage, real estate and capital verticals, selected AWS to develop mortgage-specific AI applications.

Health and Life Sciences

Baxter International, a medical products company, is moving from its own data centers to AWS and has already seen benefits, including faster time to market for new tools and solutions, the ability to rapidly scale technology solutions to new geographic areas and significant cost savings.

Security operations

Arctic Wolf Networks has selected AWS as its primary cloud provider to power its innovative, cloud-native security operations platform as it grows globally. With AWS, Arctic Wolf is able to process more than 1,400 billion unique security events per week to help customers manage rapidly evolving digital threats.

AWS has announced plans to open an infrastructure region in New Zealand in 2024 that will consist of three Availability Zones, giving customers more choice and flexibility to take advantage of advanced technologies. Globally, AWS has 81 Availability Zones in 25 geographic regions, with plans to launch 24 additional Availability Zones and eight additional AWS Regions.
