David and Carla Meine launched their book Eating to Live: Unlocking the Leaky Gut Code and was featured at the Author Your Brand Show.
LEHI, UTAH, USA, October 7, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – David Meine is an endurance athlete. All his life he has been active, fit and in sport. Succumbing to cancer and debilitating 24/7 pain was not in his plans.
After trying dozens of ideas, his wife, Carla, became a functional nutrition consultant. Together, the two embarked on a journey that would make David the guinea pig of his own healing. His best-selling book, Eating to Live: Unlocking the Leaky Gut Code, David’s Personal Healing Journey. After years of painkillers and dozens of attempts to reverse existing health problems, they have cleared the culprit.
His gut health.
David has a long-standing obsession with athletic performance, including competitive cycling, tennis, triathlons, and even Ironman competitions. David couldn’t cope with the daily pain he felt. It has become common for him to spend days confined to his bed due to excruciating back pain.
To add insult to injury, during this phase he was also diagnosed with bladder cancer.
Tired of treatments that had no visible results, David and Carla sought to focus on the root cause of her ailments. The central problem was eventually identified as “leaky gut syndrome”.
Leaky gut syndrome occurs when the tight junctions of the intestinal wall loosen. The body’s intestinal barrier then allows dangerous substances, including undigested food particles, bad bacteria and other toxins, to enter the bloodstream. This results in poor absorption of nutrients causing symptoms such as joint pain, obesity, depression, lack of energy and indigestion. These symptoms can lead to much more serious health problems.
On the show, David explained, “My diet and frequent use of pain relievers have been the cause of so much pain and illness in my life.” With the help of Dr. Steven Gundry, a leading restorative medicine physician, David and his wife soon learned that David needed to change his diet to avoid negative inflammation in his body.
“I had to eliminate certain foods, most of which was sucrose and fructose. I also had to give up all NSAIDs… by following this diet, I started to heal my gut,” David recalls speaking to the host, Doug. Crowe.
He recalls: “The difference was both dramatic and surprising, I went from a pain level of around eight to less than two. In his # 1 bestseller, Eating to Live, readers follow David and Carla’s personal journey as they uncover each piece of the puzzle that would eventually unlock the code causing the leaky gut… and how to fix it.
Unlike many health books, the Meines reject “one size fits all.” Instead, they created a structured protocol through a health assessment that is tailored to each person’s diet, nutrition, and body chemistry. Their gradual approach eliminates foods that wreak havoc on the intestinal lining. Following their four-step program, readers learn how to help reduce inflammation and possibly reduce excess medication to help lead active, pain-free lives through individual food and lifestyle choices.
Carla and David Meine are the co-founders of several successful businesses focused on health and wellness. With a blended family of seven children and 18 grandchildren, they are passionate about sharing their history, knowledge and experience to help others transform their health.
